Historical Background

Majority of its inhabitants belong to the tribal group Samal and its largest population practice the religion Islam, which is manifested by the number of masjid or mosque in the area.Manalipa has five (5) mosques that serve as prayer ground. It also has a madrasa or a school that offers Islamic teachings. A small percentage of its population practices other religions.

Fishing is the major source of living, because of its geographical location. Manalipa is enjoying the rich marine resources of the Celebes Sea. The inhabitants also produce dried fish both for commercial and personal use. Carrageenan (agar-agar) farming is also practiced in the area as a potential source of income.

Water Facility. Majority of the residents in the area rely on Artesian Wells and Deep Wells as source of water.

Health Services. The Barangay Health Center serves as focal point of the delivery of health services through the health workers. Services being offered by the BHC: Health Education, Family Planning, Immunization, First Aid, Maternal and Child Care, treatment of common diseases, supply of essential drugs, Environmental Health Education/Counselling, and General Consultation.

The geographical location of Manalipa manifests its susceptibility to geographical hazards and other natural calamities, which may affect its terrain, social activities and livelihood or economy. Therefore a more defined plan is needed to meet its objectives and help develop and protect the socioeconomic status of the area.

Barangay Fiesta Fiestas are not celebrated since the inhabitants are mostly Muslims.  Instead, festivities are observed during Hariraya Ei'dil Fitri as the culmination of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
