Historical Background

Long before Barangay Victoria became a barangay, it was called Sitio Kuwangan.  People call this "Kuwangan" because of the many sea shells found in this place for about 50 years.  Sitio Kuwangan was under Barangay Manicahan.

Former Mayor Hector C. Suarez who at the time a member of the Nacionalista Party who at the time was the majority party appointed Mr. Carmelo Manlangit as his campaign manager.  Because of the victory of the Nacionalista Party, Mayor Suarez and Carmelo Manlangit renamed Sitio Kuwangan to Victoria on February 12, 1955.

In 1992, during the administration of former Mayor Vitaliano Agan, a resolution was made through the initiative of Barangay Kagawad Concepcion R. Limen of Manicahan to separate Victoria.  It was named a barangay on October 25, 1992.

Desciption Barangay Victoria is bounded by Manicahan on the east, Lapakan on the north, Lamisahan and Sangali on the west, and on the south by the Sacol Island, Tumalutap and the eleven islands.
