Zone III

Distance from the City Proper 0.25 km; still within the City Proper
Political District District I
Historical Background By virtue of Presidential Decree No. 86, Barangay Zone III became one of the four urban Barangays of the city of Zamboanga. This barangay is a little uptown about 0.25 kilometers from City Hall, Zamboanga Regional Training Hospital, the Central Police Department, Zamboanga Fire Station and the Public Market. It is geographically surrounded by six (6) Barangays through common streets. From the West-side, Zone III separates from Zone I and Zone II through La Purisima Street as its common boundary; on the North, it separates with Camino Nuevo by way of Gov. Alvarez St.; on the East, along the stretches of Veterans Ave., the barangay separates the adjoining Tetuan and Sta. Catalina; and finally on the South by Gov. Lim Avenue, as its dividing line between Zone IV.
Location Barangay Zone III is almost fully developed among the four commercial barangays of the city. It was originally carved out as subdivision areas by various subdivision owners, it is quite amply provided with corresponding road lots. Almost all donated lots are cemented. The opening of MindPro Citimall at La Purisima St., the newly constructed Price Wise commercial center at Dr. Pedro Rodriguez St., and the continuous influx of commercial establishment, it is expected that Zone III will generate more income and taxes for the City and help lessen the problems on unemployment.
