Mayor Beng Climaco has highly commended members of the police, military and other law enforcement units including barangay officials, tanods and volunteers, civic organizations, government and non-government agencies for their sacrifices and dedication that helped contribute to a peaceful observance of Holy Week.
Mayor Climaco credited police visibility and public support and cooperation for the hassle-free observance of the culmination of the Lenten Season.
Specifically, the chief executive cited the efforts of the Zamboanga City Police Office under PSSupt. Luisito Magnaye, Task Force Zamboanga under Col. Napoleon, Police Station-7, Charlie Company of the 11th Infantry Battalion, Pasonanca Barangay Council, barangay tanods, different radio clubs, civic groups, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Health Office, General Services Office, Philippine Red Cross, other government and non-government agencies and members of the media that helped and contributed to the successful implementation of the operation plan for this year’s Holy Week.
A comprehensive security plan was put in place at the Climaco Freedom Park in Abong-abong, Upper Pasonanca and in all other places of worship and sites where people converged for their Holy Week rituals. The operation plan was amplified by the issuance of two executive orders, one imposing a temporary traffic rerouting scheme in all roads leading to the Climaco Freedom Park and the other, banning various items in the park from April 12-15.
Mayor Climaco urged the authorities to maintain a similar level of security even after the Holy Week to ensure peace and security in Zamboanga City. (Sheila Covarrubias)
