City Hall flies flag at half mast

Mayor Beng Climaco has ordered to fly at half mast the Philippine flag in City Hall for the entire week in honor of the fallen soldiers and civilians in the ongoing battle in Marawi City.

Climaco issued the order Monday as Zamboanga City joined the nation in the celebration of the 119th Anniversary of the Philippine Independence.

She said the flag flown at half mast is a “symbol of respect and mourning to our men and civilians who died.”

The city government of Zamboanga join the nation in praying “for our heroes and innocent victims who died, for the soldier and the civilians who are still in the battlefield, and for peace and unity for the Philippines.”

“Rogamiento y rezo tambien del ciudad amo para el termino del conflicto na Marawi y el paz y seguridad na Zamboanga, Mindanao y entero nacion,” she added.

Sec. Jesus Dureza of the Office of the Presidential Assistant on the Peace Process (OPAPP) was the guest of honor and speaker during the Independence Day commemorative program at the grounds of City Hall.

The multi-sectoral representatives joined the city government officials, police and military contingents during the program Monday morning.

Among those present were Congressman Mannix Dalipe of the second district, Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, members of the City Council and officials and representatives from the security sector and multi-sectoral groups.-(Vic Larato)
