Finance committee preps for 2018 budget

Mayor Beng Climaco together with the City Finance Committee spearheaded Friday the conduct of the budget forum in line with the preparation for the 2018 Executive Budget.

The forum intended to help guide the different city departments in the preparation of their individual budget proposals for 2018 and to set the direction that the city will take by identifying programs and projects that would benefit the people and prioritizing the same.

The projected Executive Budget for 2018 is P3.2 billion, about a hundred million more than the 2017 budget of P3.1 billion.

Mayor Climaco in her message during the forum laid down her policy direction focused on Security, Health and Education (SHE) stressing that despite the relative progress that the city has been enjoying the past months, there are still a lot more to be done to ensure a better and more peaceful and secured life for the residents of the city.

City Budget Officer Ferdie Alvarez said budget hearings to assess and evaluate the proposals of the different city departments, the national high schools and Trial courts and other agencies that the city government assists will be set August 7-11.

The members of the finance committee include City Budget Officer Alvarez, Asst. City Budget Officer Geraldine de la Paz, Acting City Treasurer Carmelita Candido, City Accountant Sylvia Binarao, City Planning and Development Coordinator Engr. Rodrigo Sicat and Councilor Rommel Agan, chair of the Council Committee on Appropriations.
