Beng calls for transparency in barangay polls

Mayor Beng Climaco has expressed confidence that the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections set on May 14 will be transparent and objective as she emphasized the importance of the said undertaking.

Climaco adheres to the Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) call to keep the May 14 polls free from political interventions and ensure honest and peaceful elections.

The mayor Wednesday witnessed the public opening and verification of election materials initiated by the City Treasurer’s Office as custodian of the election paraphernalia. The procedure is mandated under the Election Code and is aimed to ensure that all the items shipped by COMELEC-Manila are in order and complete and paves the way for the distribution of the materials to the Board of Election Inspectors starting May 12.

Climaco thanked the City Treasurer’s Office and the COMELEC for their efforts citing their big role in the coming elections.

“Claro ya abla el COMELEC, politiicians must allow objectivity and transparency of elections and we would like to inspire all candidates with our gratitude for aspiring to serve the community because at the end of the day, you are the first responders as the basic local government unit in the city,” the mayor emphasized. She added that the local government fully supports the COMELEC in the aspiration to have a free, honest and peaceful elections for the barangay and SK on May 14.
