Biography of the City Assessor

BIOGRAPHY OF THE CITY ASSESSOR


     Erwin E. Bernardo, born on the 9th day of October, 1963, joined the Office of the City Assessor on March 19, 1992 as Administrative Officer IV.  Erwin or “Win” as he is fondly called by friends and relatives is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by profession, a distinction he earned immediately after completing his Baccalaureate Degree in Bachelor of Science Commerce Major in Accounting in 1984 at the Ateneo de Zamboanga, now a University.  He also finished his elementary and secondary education in the same school.

     Erwin is happily married to Ma. Lucia Aquino. Their union is blessed by a lovely daughter, Mary Joy, who is their pride and joy.

     Erwin pursued his Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University thru a scholarship grant called the Local Scholarship Program which was given by the Civil Service Commission.  He also acquired some units in Public Administration at the Western Mindanao State University.

     From an Administrative Officer he went on to become the Evaluation Officer and eventually appointed City Assessor on March 18, 2002 by the late Maria Clara Lorenzo Lobregat.

     He takes pride that it was during his watch that the second general revision of taxes was conducted after 12 long years pursuant to a City Council ordinance. Just recently the Office was conferred the Seal of Frontline Service Excellence Award by the Civil Service Commission for displaying competency in frontline service. 

     Erwin is an active member of different organizations in the city like the Rotary Club of Zamboanga City West where he is the Vice President and Director in the avenue of Membership; Board Member and Board Treasurer of the Zamboanga Puericulture Center, General Secretary of the Zamboanga Football Association and Board of Director of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Alumni Association.

     Aside from being the Department Head II of the Office of the City Assessor, Erwin also heads the Special Executive Committee on Computerization, Chair of Task Force Aviso, member of Task Force Cementerio Publico, member of the City Housing Board, member of the City Zoning Board of Assessment Appeals and member of Task Force Integrated Bus Terminal Pronto.

     Erwin believes that being pro-active, subscribing the value of honesty and teamwork and finding joy in serving the people are keys to obtaining office goal of reaching greater heights.
